Engaging our Members
The Board strives to engage, enable and recognize our dynamic and diverse business community. We support our members with powerful and relevant opportunities, products and collaborations that build their businesses throughout the year. Several thousand people attended our networking events in 2015/2016 as they looked to make long-lasting connections that deepen their business capabilities.

We held 16 of these member-to-member teaching sessions. These peer-led, interactive seminars addressed key strategic issues growing businesses face today and delivered practical tips, tools and takeaways to members from members with direct expertise on the topic at hand.
Networking and Advice
In September 2015, the Board launched our Young Professionals Network (YPN)—a unique platform for emerging leaders operating across all industries, sectors and company sizes. The program has succeeded in building a truly engaged network of the next generation of the Toronto region’s high performing talent. We saw over 800 young professionals and emerging leaders under the age of 40 participate in an exciting calendar of networking events and professional development workshops and seminars customized for their generation, including on topics of sales and negotiation, financial fluency and presentation skills.
Small Business Summits, sponsored by RBC
The Board hosted three Small Business Summits. Each featured small business experts providing advice on innovations and best practices to help with business growth while securing networking opportunities for 300 hundred small business owners and entrepreneurs.
RBC After Hours Networking
In partnership with RBC, the Board hosted ‘After Hours’ Business Networking events throughout the year. Over the year more than 900 attendees connected with peers, prospects and collaborators at the ROM, on our annual Mariposa Boat Cruise, and at other exciting locations in the heart of downtown Toronto.
Products and Tools
Compensation Reports – The Big Bench
Each year leading organizations participate in the Board’s compensation survey that captures the compensation and benefits practices of their organizations. This year, the Board again partnered with Accompass, an expert in compensation benefits and practices to provide the robust data insights produced within our report, The Big Bench. We revamped the product to better serve members’ needs., introducing a new data collection process for easier submission and a unique new online reporting tool allowing users to access aggregated compensation data on selected job titles. We were pleased 27 new companies participated in our revised compensation reporting tool this year.
Contact Toronto and ExecuLeads
Businesses need to continually grow their networks to succeed. The Board’s Contact Toronto and ExecuLeads products are valuable lead generation tools that let you connect with decision-makers in our region’s largest companies. These comprehensive business listings house key contact information for more than 3,200 companies and 12,450 executives.
Connecting with other Board members is vital to us, especially those who also know other members who can help us build our business. At our level of membership, we have a relationship manager who reaches out to us, understands our goals and helps us make the right connections. For instance, he connected us with a Connected Cities Initiative, because that kind of gathering with those kinds of people are right in our sweet spot.
